The abuse of red meat leads to increased levels of phosphorus in the blood serum. An excess of this substance in the body, in turn, contributes to accelerated biological aging and the occurrence of health problems (mainly kidney).
The researchers observed the diet and health of the population in the poorest neighborhoods of the city of Glasgow (UK). Unhealthy diet and excess red meat in it doctors associated with accelerated aging of some part of this population.
Previously, scientists have noted that high levels of phosphorus is associated with increased risk of mortality and vascular aging. In October 2015, the world health organization has compared the risks to health arising from the consumption of processed meat (particularly sausages), with a danger from the use of asbestos.
