The abuse of red meat leads to increased levels of phosphorus in the blood serum. An excess of this substance in the body, in turn, contributes to accelerated biological aging and the occurrence of health problems (mainly kidney).

The researchers observed the diet and health of the population in the poorest neighborhoods of the city of Glasgow (UK). Unhealthy diet and excess red meat in it doctors associated with accelerated aging of some part of this population.
