Compared to the same period in 2016, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.6 percentage points, as compared to the first quarter of 2017 - 0.5 percentage points.
The number of unemployed compared to the same period last year decreased by 7.9 thousand, compared to the first quarter of 2017, which is 4.7 thousand.

Youth unemployment is 16.5%, which is 2.4 percentage points lower than a year earlier and 0.8 percentage points less than in the first quarter of this year.

In the second quarter of youth aged 15 to 24 was 14.7% of all unemployed, or 12.8 thousand persons, and its share decreased by 0.9 percentage points compared to the same period a year earlier.

In the second quarter to 31.4% or 447,1 thousand residents of Latvia aged 15 to 74 years were economically inactive, i.e. not working and not looking for work. Compared to the first quarter is 11.1 thousand people or 2.4% less.

16,3 thousand people or 3.7% of the economically inactive population had lost hope to find work. A year earlier such was 4,3%.
