According to experts in the field of wildlife, this phenomenon is due to the popularity of the series of books and films about young wizard Harry Potter, which had its own snowy owl.

The publication cites studies Vincent Nijman and Anna Nekaris from Oxford Brookes University, which States that in 2001, before the release of the film "Harry Potter and the philosopher's stone", the Indonesian market, there were only a few hundred owls, but by 2016, that number rose to 13 thousand.
