Officially selected Rīgas satiksme supplier of low-floor trams will be announced tomorrow, April 27.

An open tender for the supply of 20 low-floor trams, which will run through the 4th route was announced in the fall of 2015. Estimated amount of purchases is € 70 million.

After the announcement of the competition two Polish companies — Stadler Polska sp.z.o.o. and Pojazdy Szynowe PESA Bydgoszcz Spolka Akcyjna filed complaints to the Bureau on supervision of purchases (BNZ), regarding conditions on technical parameters of low-floor trams, but SSB has allowed Rigas satiksme to continue the procurement procedure and upheld the previous requirements of the contest.

The contest received three applications — two of the above-mentioned Polish companies and the Czech company Škoda.

Meanwhile, the magazine "Ir" reported that the competition rules were drawn up so that it corresponded to only offer Škoda.

Previous purchase of low-floor trams was completed in 2008, when the tender won the company Škoda.

Now at the disposal of "Rīgas satiksme" has 26 low-floor trams, they run between 6-th and 11-th routes.
