The Minister believes that one should not have illusions about the fact that the integration of refugees will happen very quickly, as some of these people came from completely different cultural backgrounds. She also noted that integration is a bidirectional process, so the motivation to integrate is important. If a person arrived in Latvia in transit, he will only formally to fulfil its responsibilities, expecting, when will be able to leave the country, said the Minister.

Milbarge noted that some refugees still wants to stay in Latvia and enthusiastically develops integration courses.

In General, Latvia has pledged for two years to move 531 refugee, mostly currently in Greece and Italy. The first refugees arrived in the country in February, but in General, currently in Latvia are already 23 people.
