The study involved about 300 people aged 20-65 years, diagnosed with diabetes during the previous six years. For 149 people, scientists have developed a strict diet for 3-5 months, consisting of low-calorie shakes and soups.
On the day the volunteers consumed no more calories 825-853. After this period the volunteers took part in the program, which has kept weight to a new level.
The results showed that almost 90% of those who have lost 15 pounds, cured of diabetes. The same effect was achieved 57% of people that dropped 10-15 pounds, and 34% get rid of 5-10 pounds. In the control group, only four percent of the patients experienced remission.
