During the meeting participants discussed topical issues of international and regional security, expansion of NATO presence in Latvia and the location of the international battalion of the Alliance under the leadership of Canada.

As reported, at the Warsaw NATO summit adopted a decision on strengthening NATO's military presence in the Baltic States and Poland in rotation. In 2017, these countries will be posted multinational battalions of NATO.

In Latvia the battalion of more than 1,000 people under the leadership of Canada to full strength will be posted until June. Its members included soldiers from Albania, Italy, Poland, Slovenia and Spain.
