In an interview with O. Belozerov discussed actual information about operations and their results for the first 5 months of the current year. The leaders of both railroads recognized that cooperation takes place in the normal way and the traffic volume has increased this year. O. Belozerov especially stressed the contribution of the enterprise "Latvian railway Loģistika" in the development of container trains from China to Europe and from Europe to China in cooperation with Russian partners.
E. Berzins and Oleg Belozerov positively assess the cooperation and believe that it must be strengthened, ensuring the delivery of quality and coordinated services to existing partners and to collaborate on new projects — in the creation of the corridor North–South and development of traffic to/from China.
In turn, speaking at a session of the conference "Transit 1520 — challenges for international logistics", E. Berzins emphasized the advantages of Latvia in the creation of a future transit corridor North–South and the role of LDz in the delivery of Asian cargo to Western Europe and Scandinavia.
President of LDz said that the participation in the development of Eurasian transport corridors is now one of the priorities in the transport and logistics industry in Latvia. A significant role is played by the geographical position of Latvia and convenient connections by sea with Western Europe and Scandinavia, which guarantee prompt delivery of goods to the final goal. E. Berzins stressed that it is necessary to take into account the efficiency of delivery of goods: if your shipment requires at least 45 days, using the railway infrastructure, goods from Eurasia to the final destination comes a month less. Moreover, in the ports of Scandinavia and Western Europe, goods can be delivered within 24-48 hours.
In a panel discussion at the conference also took part representatives of transport industry of Russia, Iran, India and other countries which have introduced with the strategic priorities for the creation of new routes on the territory of Eurasia, including focusing on the corridor North–South. It is formed from India to North Europe, covering pre-and Latvia.
