During the forum, E. Berzins stressed that the priority of the transportation and logistics industry in Latvia now is the development of Eurasian transport corridors, as well as the successful participation of Latvia in freight traffic from China and Central Asia, and in providing transportation for newly developing corridor North–South from India and Iran. As current trends in the development of E. Berzins also mentioned transportation from Scandinavia to Asia.

President of LDz presented at the forum new multi-modal route from Germany through the port of Riga in China, which a week earlier had set off the first part — it needs to achieve its goal for 12-14 days.

The forum participants, in turn, came to the unanimous conclusion that at the global level has significantly increased competition in the freight traffic and, along with the price of transportation and speed of the offered services, increasing the role of client service, facilitating the process of cargo transportation.

The discussion also touched on two types of rail space, about which the experts consider that the formal boundaries between the Railways of 1520 and 1435 mm should gradually decrease. This is necessary in the interests of clients. A positive example of this might be the Rail Baltica project, in which Latvia will be created a logistics hub in Salaspils, capable of forming a synergy rail lines of the two types of track, said E. Berzins.
