  • Israel announced its withdrawal from UNESCO. Tel Aviv went on a step followed by Washington, who called the organization "anti-Israel" because of the inclusion in its membership of Palestine.     Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the U.S. decision a "brave and moral". The head of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, in turn, has described the move of Washington and tel Aviv as a "loss in the family UN".

    At the moment UNESCO headquarters in Paris has 195 members. The UN was created in 1945 by 37 countries. USA previously ceased to pay contributions to the organization, and finally leave on 31 December 2018.

    In July, Russia's permanent representative to the organization Alexander Kuznetsov told, the West block contacts UNESCO sites in the Crimea.
